For Fastenal’s Northern Colorado businesses, the concept of internships is relatively new. While Fastenal as a company has a long history of welcoming interns, our goal remains consistent: finding the right people. We have many full-time employees and leaders today who started as interns with Fastenal while in college. In NoCo, this goal is no different. Last summer, in 2024, we welcomed our first interns. The internship program spans 12 weeks, but remarkably, those interns are still with us. One has graduated from CSU and has been promoted to a full-time position, while the other continues to work part-time at our Fort Collins branch while attending school.
Our aim is to provide interns with the opportunity to gain invaluable skills in sales and supply chain management, all within a flexible schedule and competitive earning environment. Hiring part-time is our standard practice, and offering internships creates a mutually beneficial partnership between students and Fastenal. This approach helps us attract quality talent by offering unique on-the-job training and networking opportunities, ensuring a strong pipeline of part-time employees that we can eventually promote to full-time roles.
