“I felt like it was a down to earth community that respected those who worked hard. Field time gets you what school can’t. There is so much wisdom outside the classroom. If you stay in an office you are robbing yourself of the experience and wisdom that comes with project based careers.” – CSU Student Intern with Zak George Landscaping
“I learned real life applications of my major through actual projects that were being designed at the firm. This gave me a good understanding of what I would be doing as a structural engineer. I’ve only had one barrier to learning opportunities in Colorado and that is that there are not many engineering firms that focus on sustainable and ecofriendly design. I’m sure over the next few decades this will change but as of now, those opportunities lie in the bigger cities on the coasts.” – CSU Student Intern with Professional Engineering Consultants
“It was an excellent opportunity to gain new field skills and reinforce existing ones, while contributing to research on a species of conservation concern. Experiential learning opportunities are essential for networking, gaining *relevant* skills, and progressing in fields associated with natural resources.” – CSU Student Intern with Colorado Parks and Wildlife
